Project Update
28/07/09 21:17
Hello all
Just a quick update on the project and how it is going in Calderdale.
I’ve met with a number of people who are important to the project including Leanne from West Yorkshire Police, Liz and Karen from the Stars in the Sky - Yorkshire and Janet from Calderdale Safeguarding
I’ve also attended a meeting of the learning disability service providers and told them about the project.
These meetings have led to links with others so the work continues. I am also making contact with the local voluntary sector and carers groups.
Most encouragingly I’ve also got some meetings planned to talk to people who have a learning disability themselves. So I know that the message is getting out there, but there is still work to do. I am especially keen to ensure that the minority communities within Calderdale are involved and represented, I will keep working on this.
It is good to find out that people are interested in the project and prepared to pass the message on and get involved. That commitment will certainly help as the project moves on.
The big event we have planned is the one on the 22nd Sept but it does look like I will not be the only person in the room now - which is nice!
On a national level we have 30 names on our email group of interested people and I’ve done a presentation for the Derbyshire Learning Disability Partnership Board.
I’m off to try and record a video Blog now which I’m not really looking forward to but it is important to make this website as accessible as possible.
David
